Better selection would have helped

When you are compiling an anthology your main concern is selection; and by selection I don't just mean the poems themselves but also the translations. There are a couple of translations of Attar with rhyming verse included here, and that is just insane. How can you include scenes from Shakespeare's plays in an anthology of mystical poetry and leave out Hafiz? Yeah that's right, he left out Hafiz one of the greatest mystical poets of them all. The publishing date in the book I have is 2002 and I can assure you there are better translations of the Rig Veda, Bhagavad Gita, Song of Songs, and the Upanishads than the ones included here; not to mention a few other questionable translations from "anonymous" people (the reason for this may be in getting permission to include certain translations, I don't know). One of the best things about the book is also one of the worst though and that is the latter selections, most of which come from the west. What is great about these latter selections is that I was introduced to several poets I had not heard of. What is bad is that some of them shouldn't have been included. The reason for this is that the book is advertised as an anthology of mystical poems and to me mysticism transcends whatever religion it is associated with. The poems in question are certainly religious in nature but I don't think they are mystical; and there is a difference. The collection is so-so but it is hardly must have material.

A must have book for Thermal EOR Engineers!

This is the classical book by late Dr. Roger Butler (father of SAGD) on thermal recovery of heavy oil and bitumen. This book is very good. Reservoir engineers, production engineers and facilities engineers who are involved in thermal enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects should own this book.

The book is concise. Fundamentals of heat transfer in solids, fluids and porous media are first laid out before actually covering thermal recovery processes, equipment and facilities.

The book does not cover only SAGD (steam-assisted gravity drainage) but also cyclic steam stimulation, steam-flooding and in situ combustion thermal EOR processes/technologies.

Production and facilities engineers will find the chapter on "steam recovery equipment and facilities" very useful.

It is unfortunate that this book is currently out of print.

TWO BOOKS in ONE

This is a really nice book. Super colorful, beautifully designed, easy to understand, multiple visual examples on nearly every page. Great for visual learners but also includes plenty of written commentary. It includes really important stuff like quality comparison of different brand paints - by color! All the way to experimental techniques that the author has tried with success. I've helped teach drawing and watercoloring to architecture students and I will definitely refer to this next time I teach.

I wrote this review to make note that this book ALSO INCLUDES: The Watercolorist's Essential Notebook - Landscapes by the same author. Half-way through the book you will come across the latter, exactly the same book that is sold separately. It does not say this anywhere on the cover. It only says it in the product description on the Amazon.com product page and on the back cover. So you get TWO BOOKS in ONE. Sweet.

The only watercolor book you need. Complete and essential.

I have spent days on end and lots of cash looking for the perfect watercolors book. Trust me, this is it! I don't often write reviews but I am absolutely blown away by this book and feel the need to share my thoughts and hopefully help someone find what I did. The book is exceptionally well written by a great art master and teacher. With his easy to understand way with words he covers everything anyone ever needs to know about the how to of this amazing art form. He even tells how to make your own watercolor tools and provides an exceptionally complete list of the pros and cons of most all the major paints and supplies available to work with. It really takes the guesswork out of your shopping list and helps you to not waste money on crappy paints and supplies. He provides numerous workable hints that you just don't get anywhere else. The book is organized in a way for easy referencing too and is full of visual examples of too many techniques to list here. If you're looking for the best watercolor book look no more. This is truly it!

Best book for apprentice watercolorist, incredible value

Wow. The minute I scanned through the book, I knew it was good. It is printed on a nice heavy paper (it starts with good paper, doesn't it), and the presentation is gorgeous. All the examples are beautiful and inspiring. I produced the first watercolor I am proud to show by reproducing loosely one of the examples (Summer Choristers page 23).

It starts with paint, brushes, other tools, and walks you through the basics. And it goes deeper and deeper, all the way to specific techniques about landscape subjects. Every topic covered, the author is spot on, and the illustrations are plenty and large.

Even if you are not a watercolorist, you will get some value out of the composition, light and shadows, colors and other general artistic considerations.

Wishing I had found it sooner, and ordering another copy for my mother now.

OK...if you like reading a magazine

I'm a beginning "hunter" and bought a few books for references...I was disappointed in this one...It's basically a series of magazine articles about the author's experiences while metal detecting...and although there's some good info in the book, good luck finding it, since the info comes piecemeal...In addition, it was poorly edited, having many spelling and gramatical errors, and was not organized at all except chronologically.
Given the above, I did enjoy his stories, but I could've found those online or in a magazine...I therefore found it poor for a reference or how-to book.

Not your typical treasure hunting book. Written about the authors actual hunting trips. This to me is what made the book really interesting and exciting. I loved the book and had a hard time putting it down.

I love Jasmine and Silas Knight...

In fact I love all the Knight's....from the oldest to the youngest! I love the way Jasmine has changed the wolf nation and for the better. She is a strong Birch and Silas knows this. Their love has kept the compound safe and strong. All those that come in contact with them are better for it. With all the love Jasmine has she's kept the nation strong. I loved seeing the interaction with Asia and her parents. It was great to see Asia evolving emotionally. Although there are a lot of characters, it is good to have a little said about each of them.

La Patron's Den is still as fascinating to me as the day they were born. Sydney Addade breathes life into these engaging kids and I love it.

The La Patron series never disappoints; can't wait for the next installments.

As always Ms. Addae as passed my expectations of the La Patron's series. I loved the 2nd Christmas installment. The family dynamics are GREAT. I love how it touch on everyone, Asia and her parents and her step brother and sister, Silas fear of someone taking his pups (babies), and the young couples going on vacation to the islands. Silas is coming more and more out the box. I'm loving it. This is a great start into the next book.
